Cast
Adrienne Shelly as Dannie
Tapped early in her career by filmmaker Hal Hartley in his films THE UNBELIEVABLE TRUTH and TRUST, Shelly quickly earned praise as an actress to watch. She’s appeared in the films TERESA’S TATTOO opposite C. Thomas Howell and Lou Diamond Phillips, I’LL TAKE YOU THERE opposite Ally Sheedy, and FACTOTUM opposite Matt Dillon. Her network television credits include LAW & ORDER, OZ and HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET.
Shelly wrote, co-starred in, and directed the 2007 film WAITRESS which won five awards, including the Jury Prize at the Sarasota Film Festival for narrative feature, and the Audience and Feature Film awards at the Newport Beach Film Festival. The film premiered at Sundance and starred Keri Russell, Jeremy Sisto, Nathan Fillion, Cheryl Hines, and Andy Griffith.
Max Parrish as Eli/Bud/Fritz
The acting bug struck and Max immersed himself in Lee Strasbergs’s Acting studio in Los Angeles where he has appeared in productions of Chekhov, Mamet, Williams and Lanford Wilson until HOLD ME director JOEL HERSHMAN selected Parrish from among 500 hopefuls for the role of Eli/Bud/Fritz for which Parris earned praise.
Other film credits include TIL DEATH DO US PART, THE PARTY CRASHERS and THE STORY OF 0: UNTOLD PLEASURES. He’s also appeared in several television series, including; COMPROMISING SITUATIONS, LOVE STREET and SILK STALKINGS.
Sean Young as Twinkle
In 1981, Young made the transition to movies in the Merchant-Ivory production of JANE AUSTEN IN MANHATTAN, and opposite Bill Murray in STRIPES. However, she first gained national attention in the 1982 cult classic BLADERUNNER as Rachel, Harrison Ford’s android love interest.
Young is perhaps best remembered for her steamy backseat limo love scene with Kevin Costner in the thriller, NO WAY OUT. Sean played Michael Douglas’ trophy wife in the Academy Award winning WALL STREET, then played Ted Danson’s ditzy spouse in the romantic comedy COUSINS. Other memorable roles include Lt. Lois Einhorn opposite Jim Carrey in ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE, and Stacy Mansdorf in BLUE ICE opposite Michael Caine.
In addition to her long list of film credits, Young has appeared in numerous television series, including; ER, CSI, RENO 911, BOSTON PUBLIC, ONE TREE HILL and, most recently, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.
Diane Ladd as Lucille
In 1992 Ladd made entertainment history when she and her daughter, Laura Dern, became the first mother and daughter to both be nominated for an Oscar, not only in the same year, but for the same film – the critically-acclaimed RAMBLIN’ ROSE. In the same year, Ladd and Dern simultaneously received Golden Globe and Chicago Critics nominations as well.
On television, Ladd has appeared in THE GRACE KELLY STORY, DR. QUINN MEDICINE WOMAN and, most recently, on HBO’s ENLIGHTENED.
